Dulverton
is our nearest town named by its Saxon settlers "The Secret Place".

| Venford Cottage is in Exmoor National Park with hundreds of miles of bridleway and footpaths. You will see wild red deer, Exmoor ponies, larks, buzzards, hawks, moorland sheep and maybe even catch a glimpse of the Beast of Exmoor. Near the cottage are some prehistoric stone circles, hill forts and barrows of archaeological interest. Five miles away is Tarr Steps, an ancient clapper bridge with a tea-rooms close by. There are many National Trust properties in the area including Killerton House and Knighthayes. | ||||||||

| A safari trip across the moor by landrover to view the deer, ponies and other wildlife can be booked through the Information Office or at the Blacksmith's Gallery in Dulverton. For those who like animal watching there are red deer, wild Exmoor ponies, hare, foxes and badgers within view - a short walk from Venford Cottage.
